The Indian Government has rolled out the SORA (Skill for AI Readiness) programme, and by doing so, they have integrated AI with the School Curriculum. For many years, people have criticized how Indian education and books were outdated compared to what is actually relevant in the market. This initiative will mark the start of a new era for Indian Education. In this Program, three 15-hour modules will focus on teaching students about AI literacy & how they can use it in daily life.
What will be included in those Three Modules?
1) AI to be aware:-
This module serves as an introductory module, including fundamentals of AI and making students understand how AI is noting new it has already been used by us in our daily life without realizing it. Students will learn about different types of AI & get a basic understanding of the field
2) AI to Acquire:-
The second module focuses on Practical implementation os AI by teaching Basic AI programming & giving students direct experience with AI tools commonly used in AI projects.
3) AI to Aspire:-
It completes the student journey by teaching AI ethics, the impact of AI on employment & society & potential career paths in the future
Teachers will receive their training. They will be provided 45 hours of training so they can provide proper training to students.
Bridging the Digital Literacy Gap
The SORA program specifically aims to provide equal knowledge and opportunity about AI to everyone. As the topic is included in young students curriculum, it can create a great opportunity for them, especially for rural area students who have less accessibility & opportunity compared to Urban area students.
Global Collaborations
The Government has established several key partnerships to strengthen the SORA initiative. A memorandum of understanding is signed between India's Ministry of Skill Development & Entreprenurship (MSDE) & The Government of the French Republic to support joint curriculum development, a Talent exchange program & Innovation-focused training module to make sure that the Indian AI program is in line with International standards
Conclution
This initiative showed that the Indian Government has understood the importance of AI literacy in today's fast-paced world and knows that if their youth, who are going to be the next working generation, are left behind in this knowledge, then they will not be able to grow.
Following NEP 2020, which focuses on Skill Development & Vocational training, this step is a good leap towards an educated India. At Skill College, we believe in the Government Vision and that's why we started Skill Integrated Degree program for 12th standard students
